Songs Stuck on Re-Peat-Peat-Peat!

* There are some songs that have a huge impact on me at the beginning. I will only listen to those few songs for days, they will be stuck on repeat. The real achievement is whether or not they will have a lasting impression on me. Will they still be playing in a week or two? I think these candidates can get the job done :)

I have only reviewed one rap album on this blog, and one rap song, if you count Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie" as rap. I guess it is easy to assume that I am not a huge fan of the genre. However; I have found myself attracted to a particular song featuring two top rappers and a energetic woman who has decided to take a break from the music industry. T-Pain released the first official single from his upcoming album back in September and I cannot get enough. "5 O'Clock feat. Wiz Khalifa and Lily Allen" has to be considered one of the best rap/pop collaborations ever. It stands toe to toe with Eminem's forementioned track and T.I's duet with Christina Aguilera. The song throws in some naughty lyrics, but you would never know it because the track plays out as an innocent love song. T-Pain does a great job here, his voice actually works with the progression. Wiz Khalifa is okay, but I was expecting much more. The star in the song is Mrs. Allen and even though the rappers may just be using a sample of hers, it still sounds new, fresh and innovative. I enjoy this song very much and I think you will to. A rating of an 85%.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is finally here! Lady Gaga is about to officially release the fifth single, fifth already, off her successful second studio album, Born This Way. Following in the footsteps of fourth single, "You and I", Gaga has decided to move ahead with the dance/pop track, "Marry the Night", the song that Gaga has confessed to be her favorite off the album. The track is a club-thumping, freedom anthem that will surely be another top ten hit for the artist if downloads and radio airplay take off at the same time. Gaga's recent releases have been slow-paced ballads of love and death so it is nice to see her back to her over the top pop sound that will get her fans and others off their feet dancing. Gaga recently performed the single for the first time live in India, and even though the performance was more of an acoustic version of the song, reaction was highly positive. The music video is already in the works, may be finished by the the time I finish this entry, and an impressive radio edit will be officially serviced to stations on Nov. 15th. I am in love with the song, have been since the album's release, great choice for the fifth single. Paws up!

In my opinion, Jessie J cannot go wrong, she has not disappointed me yet. After releasing an album that earned a rave review from me, Jessie is still crafting brand new music in order to attract a bigger audience. Of these new songs, "Domino" has seen the light of day and it is nothing but impressive. The new track will be included on a re-release of the artist's debut album, Who You Are, along with two others. Right off the back the song may sound like it is coming from fellow pop artist Katy Perry, but Perry could not belt out notes like Jessie can. In fact, I think Jessie gives a performance that Katy wishes that she could. The track is a nice, little, pop track that deals with issues of encouragement and empowerment created in a way that makes it impossible to resist the urge to want to sing along with the catchy lyrics. The song is slowly gaining traction, moving up the iTunes Top 100 chart spot by spot, I think that once it finds the right audience it could be Jessie's biggest hit in the US. I love everything about the artist and I think this is just another step in the right direction for her.

Last, but not least... Breathe Carolina, an electro/rock duo from Colorado released their third studio album back in July. The first official single, "Blackout", may just be their breakout hit if more people get exposed to the different kind of party anthem. The song goes really hard while lyrics about drinking too much and not remembering the night before are sung by an artist with an interesting and unique voice. I have been following the band since I came across them as a featured guest on a Jeffree Star track a couple of years back and I have been hooked ever since. This newest track did not let me down, I play it before I hit the club on the weekends because it pumps energy back into your lifeless body. In my opinion, this is a true pop song, mixed in with a bit of rock, so I feel that it will have a better chance crossing over to mainstream radio. The track is fun, extremely catchy and will surely catch on, especially with the college crowd. As I was writing this, I noticed that the song finally cracked into iTunes Top 100 so expect this loud anthem of getting wasted to be a real success in the coming weeks.

Be sure to go buy all of these track on iTunes today. I am certain that one of them will be playing over and over again for you!
