Mask Wednesday - Drunk Elephant Babyfacial

It's Mask Wednesday and I have been meaning to talk about the Drunk Elephant Baby Facial for a full review for quite a while!

I purchased this product myself - this post contains affiliate links

I've been raving about this product for a few months - it made my Monthly Favourites back in November 2019 and it was easily in my Best Skincare Discoveries of 2019! It was an instant game-changer in my skincare routine and I use it every week religiously, both to resurface my skin when it's acting up as well as for maintaining bright and clear skin!
I have to start before I get in to it that this product is not actually available for sale in Canada because the acid level is too high for Canadian standards (and I try not to feature products that aren't actually available here), but this one is something I picked up on vacation and I will continue to pick it up every time I'm in the States! And honestly, if I run out before vacation time, I will ship this to my U.S. mailing address and then pay to ship it to me - I love it that much. So sorry, not really sorry because you need to know how good this is!

Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial ~ $80.00 US. Babyfacial is a pro-quality AHA/BHA “facial” that resurfaces to reveal greater clarity, improved skin texture and tone, and a more youthful radiance. Think of it as an extra nudge for stubborn, dull skin (in other words, it’ll knock your cells off).

This is an at home weekly mask or facial that is meant to
gently and effectively exfoliate
the skin. It resurfaces the skin by using a 25% AHA and 2% BHA blend (glycolic, tartaric, lactic, citric and salicylic acids). The T.L.C. stands for Tartaric Lactic Citric - they smooth and brighten the skin.

This also uses unique ingredients like chickpea flour, pumpkin ferment and matchatea, milk thistle and apples - the formula balances out strong exfoliants with a soothing antioxidant blend to sooth the skin too. This has a ph of 3.5 and the blend of acids is supposed to be efficient without leaving the skin sensitized or red.

This mask is pretty specific to use and should only be used once per week. Start with clean, dry skin and apply a layer to the face - personally I think that 1.5 pumps is perfect to cover my whole face. Wear for 20 minutes and then rinse well with warm water and pat dry. Then, for best results, Drunk Elephant recommends you follow up with marula oil.

They do note that you may feel some tingling. If you are using this for the first time, maybe start with a smaller amount and stop using other acids in your routine. Also, this product is also not recommended for pregnant or nursing women because of the level of acids in it.

This is easy to apply - again, I think a pump and a half is perfect to cover my face. This is easy to apply and smooths over the face easily. I will say that there is some initial tingling and can feel a little intense at first - this will pass in a couple of minutes and then it dissipates and is comfortable to wear for the rest of the time. It didn't dry down tight or uncomfortable or anything and it rinsed off easily. I did follow the recommendation to follow up the Babyfacial with marula oil - the package of Babyfacial comes with a little sample of the Drunk Elephant Marula Oil and it does add a nice hydration following this mask!

Overall, I stand by my game-changer claim - I really think that this resurfaced my skin and it clearly made my skin brighter and smoother. It was great at targeting breakouts or anything building under the skin. It made my skin clearer and cleaner. I love the results! I have to use this weekly now or my skin will remind me to put it on!
