I know this is Burberry's Spring Summer collection, but to be honest, I got very excited about it for winter too! There is something so comfy about it!!! I'm not normally one for Burberry. I own a Burberry mac and I love it but for me, the company just isn't my normal style. However I adore this collection. There was something so right about it. I love the grungy bobble hats placed with smart skirts and the simple T-shirts with the exciting prints!
It was a trick used by Jil Sander to good effect last SS as well. She placed acid colored maxi skirts next to plain white T-shirts and it just worked so well. This is a newer version of the trend placed with bright colorful prints. There was a nod to the global traveller style which always rears its head for Spring Summer. Much like florals - which were spotted at Mary Katrantzou, Christopher Kane and Rodarte for next season!
What I like about this collection is that yes, it is very styled but it doesn't appear as if it is. It's as if the girl the designer had in mind has leapt off one plane, grabbed a bobble hat through customs and thrown a nearby mac over her party dress. I love it. Not to mention how badly I want those boots in the picture above. Swoon.
Burberry are of course famous for their macs and check. But thankfully the check was nowhere to be seen! I am loving the slight Egyptian trend which popped up at Topshop Unique too - it can be seen in the colorful collar around the shoulders of the coat. Lovely!
The pleated skirt is back! It took a short break during winter as Marc Jacob pushed pencil skirts but it's returned for next season. Just keep the color bright and cheerful! Length is knee length. I've just noticed the beads wrapped around the straps of the shoes! What a nice touch!
The grunge element of mixing textures and pieces is evident here too. Notice the stripy jumper tucked into the polite skirt which just skims below the knees. It shouldn't work but it just does. It seems to fit really well. Then add a bobble hat!
